A single-channel linearised interferometer, is used for nanoindentation of soft materials. OP1550 is a measurement tool of high precision used in nanotechnology labs. The optical configuration is based on a Fabry-Perot interferometer (see the box), which projects the interference of two reflections of a laser beam on a photodiode. For this project we have designed a PCB layout, the firmware and PC software for data visualization.

Their technology foundation combines advanced fiber optic interferometry with the latest in fiber Bragg grating (FBG) technology.
After thorough project analysis, cost optimisation, and selection of technology, we drew up the schematics of the solution. We then designed a PCB, the firmware of the device, and PC software which visualises data in a simple and clear way. Thus, we delivered the complete working system. Our task was to work with cutting edge nanotechnologies that other companies cannot cope with and come up with a revolutionary device that would change the way tests are performed and improve their quality—and we delivered.
We were able to deliver a user-friendly device with a range of possible applications in the field of nanotechnology. The user experience carrying out complex tests and complicated research has been so positive that Optics11 have tasked us with designing the next generation of devices.
