Grinn, a leader in end-to-end IoT hardware design and development, announced today  that its Terrasat-NTN asset tracker  has successfully completed certification with Skylo.   This certification ensures that the Terrasat-NTN from Grinn  is compatible with Skylo’s commercially-available non-terrestrial network (NTN), enhancing connectivity and data transmission capabilities for enterprises who want to track their goods even in areas without cellular coverage and there is a clear view of the open sky.

Grinn’s Terrasat-NTN is a location-tracking and telemetry device built for asset monitoring, logistics, and fleet management. Compact, tough, and low-power, Grinn Terrasat-NTN can track location and sensor data for vehicles, containers, machinery, and remote equipment, delivering constant visibility, in regions with and without  cellular infrastructure.

Pushing IoT Beyond the Edge of Cellular Coverage

Skylo’s 3GPP standards based NTN service solves a major challenge for IoT deployment at scale: how to maintain connectivity in remote, rural, or infrastructure-poor areas where cellular signals are weak or nonexistent in order to get critical information for better business decisions.

Terrasat-NTN is based on the Murata Type 1 SC module built around the 3GPP standard NB-NTN protocol, meaning it can switch seamlessly between terrestrial and Skylo’s satellite network depending on availability. This dual-mode capability ensures devices remain connected 24/7 without dramatically increasing costs, which is a critical factor for large-scale IoT deployments.

Voices from the Partnership

“By combining Grinn’s deep hardware design capabilities with Skylo’s NTN connectivity, this partnership paves the way for scalable IoT deployments that don’t stop at the edge of the cellular map.”, said Robert Otreba, CEO of Grinn.

“We are excited to see the Grinn Terrasat-NTN achieving Skylo Certification,” said Karthik Ranjan, IoT Partnerships Leader at Skylo. “Asset tracking is one of the most popular IoT use cases. With the Terrasat-NTN customers can now commercially deploy these trackers onto Skylo’s NTN network giving them visibility to track their assets from even the most remote locations”

Industries Set to Benefit

This solution brings massive potential across several key verticals:

Agriculture – Farmers can deploy sensors across large fields to monitor crop and soil conditions, ensuring proper use of fertilizer and water.

Logistics & Supply Chain – Companies can track shipments and containers in real time as they move through remote regions or waterways ensuring better supply chains.

Environmental Monitoring – Researchers can gather weather, climate, and pollution data from remote observation points to better understand changes in climate.

Oil, Gas & Mining – Operators can monitor equipment and environmental conditions across isolated sites without building new communications infrastructure increasing overall productivity and keeping workers safe.

Disaster Response & Humanitarian Aid – Emergency teams can deploy satellite-connected sensors and trackers during crises in areas with downed or damaged networks ensuring the safety of those affected.

A Scalable Future for Global IoT
