all.u.me is a Danish company founded in 2021, dedicated to preventing harassment and fostering a society where everyone feels free and safe. The company achieves this by combining technology with beautifully designed jewelry that features integrated personal safety alarms. With a clear focus on safety, design, and human connection, all.u.me merges wearable technology, mobile connectivity, and social responsibility to deliver a scalable solution that enhances public well-being. The brand also collaborates with organizations and institutions to extend the impact of their platform across workplaces, education, and public environments—creating safer spaces for all.
The all.u.me device is a discreet and elegant piece of jewelry integrated with a hidden panic button. When pressed three times, it initiates an alert through a connected mobile app, notifying up to 20 nearby users. The first five to respond receive the caller’s location and instructions for safe intervention. Designed to resemble everyday jewelry—such as a bracelet or charm—the device is waterproof, lightweight, and features long battery life. These characteristics make it one of the first safety wearables to successfully combine aesthetics, comfort, and real-time functionality.
The development process was particularly demanding due to the extreme miniaturization required for full integration into wearable jewelry. The complete hardware had to fit within a compact 1 cm footprint. Grinn was responsible for the full hardware and firmware development, as well as for preparing the device for mass production and certification. This included several iterations of PCB layout optimization, antenna tuning, and low-power system design. The final hardware solution was unified across different jewelry variants, enabling efficient mechanical integration while maintaining consistent performance. Grinn also led the end-to-end CE, certification, including radio and safety tests.
The primary technical challenge was to achieve stable Bluetooth Low Energy connectivity using an embedded antenna within a partially metallic housing. Grinn resolved this by refining the antenna design and achieving optimized RF performance across all jewelry variants, while maintaining a common electronics platform. Another critical challenge was minimizing power consumption in sleep mode to below 400 nA, using Nordic Semiconductor’s nRF52805 SoC. This required highly optimized firmware and precise power management strategies. Compliance with all relevant certification standards added further complexity, requiring detailed documentation and testing to meet regulatory requirements.
Grinn successfully delivered a compact 1 cm hardware platform that met all project requirements for connectivity, safety, reliability, and ultra-low power consumption. The final solution combined technical robustness with form factor flexibility and manufacturing readiness.
